Learn to Play in Day

This has been a very popular idea for many range owners

The basic principle is to allow non-golfers to sample golf in a single day.

This gives the opportunity to try the sport in a user-friendly environment and a contained time frame. Groups of work colleagues, friends, husbands and wives, individuals – anyone can have a go. The range or golf centre then has the opportunity to charm and entice these new players into the game. Most people taking part want to take up the game and find it a useful way to meet others and get a crash course in the basics. Learn to Play in a Day gives all PGA professionals the chance to demonstrate their skill, knowledge and understanding to new golfers, who are potential clients for further group classes and individual lessons.

Robert Dickman, PGA professional and proprietor of Cuckfield Golf Centre, Sussex has found the scheme ideal:

“We have held a number of Learn to Play in a Day courses this summer and they have proved so popular that we have started follow up courses, based on similar lines, for those who want a refresher in the same easy and convenient style. The cost of the day is not expensive to the new golfer, but allows us to make money, while we introduce new players to our facility. Many golfers have come back for more individual lessons and to play the course. Several have joined as members and shop sales have been excellent throughout, with many sets of clubs, bags, trolley and shoes purchased. Most of all, it seems that this is the way many people want to start golf, rather than booking a course of individual lessons, or learning over several weeks. The new golfers are not highly skilled players after the day, but we have a course which is ideal for beginners, so we create future customers with every day we run.”

Learn to Play in Day at World of Golf’s Beverley Park

The UK’s busiest golf range is offering beginners and new golfers the chance to experience golf in a single day. World of Golf’s Beverley Park is following on from their success in Learn to Play in May to offer Learn to Play in a Day. They are offering new golfers the chance to spend the day learning more about the golf swing along with the other fundamentals including etiquette, the rules and the history of the game.

Learn to Play in Day is planned to take place once a month and all beginners and new golfers are welcome to come along and sample the extensive facilities at Beverley Park, if successful then other World of Golf centres at Sidcup and Glasgow will take part. v

Ian Clark, Director of Golf at Beverley Park commented

“After the success we had with Learn to Play in May we wanted to offer our new golfers additional days where they could continue developing their game in the friendly environment they had become accustomed to here at Beverley Park”. “Initially we want small groups to take part but this we will grow as it becomes more widely advertised and we will be holding a Learn to Play in a Day once a month. All our PGA professionals will take part and we are sure this will increase business throughout the range”.

Learn to Play in Day is designed to offer beginners and new golfers an opportunity to learn about the fundamentals of golf in one day. The basic format can be tailored for each range or centre.
